*The EMERALD DRUID * Raven Acorn & Oak Feather Quill Pen

Created while working on some recent commissions.

COLOURS: Black, greens, peacock blue & gold
FEATHERS: Black turkey quill, black ostrich plume, peacock eye & crescent feathers
PAINTING: Gold
ADORNMENTS: Brass filigree leaves, 14k gold spacer, fine gold wire crosshatching over emerald green deerskin leather on pen shaft with black handspun woolen base wrap. Crystal stone highlights on feather. Finished both front & back.
GEMSTONES: Baltic Amber & Blue/Green Abalone Focal
SPECIALTY BEADS: Black pottery Raven or Crow Totem bead with a pretty enammeled Acorn & Oak Leaf drop focal
PEN TYPE: Nib with VINTAGE Gold-plated nib

Let me start off by saying that this is beautiful and it's very well put together. I think the elements go very well together and it is a lovely pen. However, when I think 'Druid', I think an aging man living amid the trees or perhaps in a cave behind a scared grove. This pen to me looks like it would be more at home in a noble's parlor or study. If you're going for a more Druid-y design, you might want to try something a bit more simple, more aimed towards nature. Woodland bird feathers might go better in a druid pen than the fluffy black one or the peacock feather. As I said, I think this pen is very nice, if a bit off in my mind. Of course, no one can define the limits of your imagination, this is simply from my point of view.
